Christmas toys fill bus at Langley church

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints supports Toys for Tots campaign with fun event

Hundreds of toys filled a TransLink reindeer bus at the Toys for Tots wrap-up event on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Langley. The results, seen at the church's outdoor picnic pavilion at 20370 82 Ave.

, represented four weeks of efforts at LDS chapels and other locations, all going to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau which distributes gifts to the various Christmas bureaus around the region, including Langley. More than 100 people turned out to help Sparky the Elf, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus load the gifts onto Sparky's reindeer bus.



There was hot chocolate, cookies, candy canes, music and pictures with the special guests. The fleet of iconic, red-nosed reindeer buses delivers the toys. Eden Engen, stake president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the area, praised Toys for Tots in the Lower Mainland for "the incredible work they do in bringing joy and hope to children during the Christmas season.

" "We also want to express our heartfelt thanks for the opportunity for members of our church to come together in service, gathering and donating toys to support this worthy cause," he added. "It's a blessing to be part of a community that can make a tangible difference in the lives of children and families in need. May our collective efforts spread love, kindness, and the spirit of giving this holiday season.
