CHP: Teen Motorcyclist from San Diego Killed in Crash While Speeding at 100 MPH

A 19-year-old motorcyclist killed in a collision on Interstate 215 in Menifee was traveling 100 mph when he slammed into the rear of a sports car, authorities said Monday.

A 19-year-old motorcyclist killed in a collision on Interstate 215 in Menifee was traveling 100 mph when he slammed into the rear of a sports car, authorities said Monday. Gabriel Ruiz Valles of San Diego was fatally injured at 8:35 p.m.

Saturday on southbound I-215, roughly three-quarters of a mile north of Scott Road, according to the California Highway Patrol . Officer Mike Lassig said that Valles was riding his 2021 Aprilia RS 660 in the fast lane when he approached a 2017 Chevrolet Camero just ahead of him. The rider closed the distance between the bike and the car “at a high rate of speed, estimated at 100,” and did not throttle back as the Camero, going about 70 mph, came into view, Lassig said.

. causing the front of the motorcycle to collide into the rear of the Camero,” the CHP spokesman said. “The rider was ejected from the motorcycle.

” The Chevy driver, whose identity was not released, came to an immediate stop. Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within 20 minutes and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Chevy driver wasn’t injured and was questioned but not arrested by CHP officers.
