The Kansas City Chiefs are no longer the NFL's only undefeated team after losing to the Buffalo Bills, 30-21, on Sunday. The Chiefs had a surprising player show up on their inactives list before the game, as rookie left tackle Kingsley Suamataia was a healthy scratch for the pivotal matchup. Although Suamataia hasn't started for the Chiefs since Week 2, it's still surprising to see the team completely take him out of the lineup as a backup, especially so early in his career.
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports On Wednesday, in a press conference, coach Andy Reid discussed the move to bench Suamataia. "Kingsley will be OK," Reid said. "It's just, sometimes you have to take a step back to take a stepforward and that's what we felt we needed to do there.
We'll go from there and just see how things work out here as he continues to work forward." Related: Chiefs' Reid Reveals Possibility of Pacheco, Omenihu Playing vs. Panthers The team has started sophomore Wanya Morris at left tackle for most of the season.
Although Morris has had his struggles with protecting Patrick Mahomes so throughout the year, Reid was impressed with how he performed against Buffalo. "I actually thought Wanya got a little bit better this week," Reid said. "He's been doing that for the most part every week, but the injury stepped in on it last week for a while.
I felt like he did some good things for a young guy, he improved and will continue to improve with reps there." Related: Mahomes Reveals One Key 'That's Hard To Stop'.
