The Kansas City Chiefs have tapped a new player to protect Patrick Mahomes' blindside on Sunday Night Football . Immediately pressed into the starting lineup, Kingsley Suamataia held his own in his NFL debut. However, the rookie left tackle struggled in a Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The No. 63 pick got beat by Pro Bowl rusher Trey Hendrickson for two sacks before Andy Reid benched Suamataia for Wanya Morris. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport , the Chiefs will stick with that late change on Sunday night.

Morris will start over Suamataia against the Atlanta Falcons. According to Pro Football Focus , Suamataia has allowed five pressures and committed three penalties this season. He has a 42.

8 overall grade on the site's 100 scale. Meanwhile, Morris allowed two sacks with three penalties in 340 snaps last season. He started four games in place of Donovan Smith, who the Chiefs let walk this offseason.

Christian Petersen/Getty Images Morris caught a one-yard touchdown earlier in last Sunday's game before replacing Suamataia. During Kansas City's final drive, the 2023 third-round pick got called for illegal hands to the face on fourth down. The penalty put the Chiefs in dire straits, but a Bengals pass interference call gave them a first down and moved the defending champions close enough for Harrison Butker to make a game-winning field goal.

Morris will be part of an offensive line tasked with blocking a Falcons pass rush led by Matthew Judon. The offseason acquisition has three pressures and 1.5 sacks with his new team.

Kansas City's interior unit must also clear running lanes for a backfield missing Isiah Pacheco. Carson Steele and Samaje Perine should get more work this Sunday night. Related: Chiefs Sign Another Running Back After Isiah Pacheco Injury.
