Chicago should strap in for a roller coaster of temperatures this weekend that could bring snow Friday and highs in the 50s and 60s by early next week, weather officials said. A storm system is expected to bring 1 to 2 inches of snow in portions of Illinois and northwest Indiana Friday, National Weather Services officials said Thursday. There was an 80 percent chance of snow Friday that diminishes later in the day.
Snow totals are expected to be less than a quarter inch but could be 1 to 2 inches between I-90 and I-80, officials said. Friday temperatures are expected to be around 35 degrees during the day dropping to high 20s in the night hours. By Saturday, highs are expected in the low 40s with clear conditions, officials said.
Temperatures are expected to rise Sunday to the low 50s. Monday temperatures are expected to reach at least 59 degrees. Tuesday’s highs are expected to be in the 60s.
