They shouldn’t do this again. But when she says that, he’s not as thrilled. They both want to keep this going, and it’s so obvious.

Stella and Kelly chit-chat about Girls on Fire while preparing for work. Stella is eager to buy baby furniture, but Kelly says the timeline is so far off that they should wait a while. (Peter Gordon/NBC)Damon is happy to have his gear back.

Herrmann says Damon needs to kick it up a notch because nobody will be taking it easy on him the second time around.Novak and Violet chat about true crime, and Novak wants to ask Flynn about a case. Violet has been busy and Flynn has been busy, but he’ll be around again.

Apparently, Pascal thinks this guy made a move on Monica, and maybe he did.

Monica didn’t care because she was in love with Dom, and that was that. But Pascal already knows that.By the time Vale departs, Pascal’s eyes are welling over with tears.

Herrmann trains Damon as if he’s never fought a fire before. Damon studied before shift, though, and is on the ball. (Peter Gordon/NBC)They get a call for an MVA in the Lakeside Mall.

Off the go!Pascal is once again the first man in the door. When he spots a victim under the truck, his face gets tense. When it comes time to rescue, he steps back and lets his team for the work.

The girl’s name is Jenna, and the driver of the SUV is stuck inside the car. The girl’s father is frantic. As the crew pulls the driver out of the wreckage, her face is filled with fear.

Once freed, Pascal eyes her uneasily.Violet is working on Jenna, who has no radial pulse but a carotid pulse. Pascal approaches the driver and blames her for what she did, while Jenna’s father looks on.

She says it was just an accident, and she only looked down for one second. The same can be said for Pascal. Outside, he claims he’s fine, and it was only a momentary loss of composure.

A girl named Natalie visits Stella about Girls on Fire. She’s only 13, but she’s a lot tougher than high schoolers. She wants to study under Stella because she made lieutenant fast.

She wants to do something real, not just do essays or algebra. Stella invites her to the noon session. (Peter Gordon/NBC)Natalie lets herself be excited for a second before going cool again.

Violet’s going to call Flynn, and wouldn’t blame him if he’s angry about her keeping her distance. He doesn’t seem like the type to hold a grudge.Herrmann gives Severide an update on Damon.

All systems go. Lots of potential. No need to worry about Pascal when Herrmann has his eyes on him.

His oxygen rate is only at 72% and his respiratory at 10%. Before the accident, he had been acting loopy and staggering, but the others thought he was being goofy.

Violet thinks it seems like he took a sedative, and another fellow pops his head in: he got hurt a while ago and was on heavy pain meds. Narcan doesn’t work, though. They need to get him to Med.

Natalie thinks the whole GoF thing is so cool. She goes in and out of cool mode, which is cute to watch. Stella has been a firefighter about as long as Natalie has been alive.

(Peter Gordon/NBC)Training continues at 51. They’re practicing breaking through doors, and Cruz and Damon set a new house record.Damon is hard on himself.

He feels he’s off his game, but that record they just broke was set by Casey and Gallo five years ago; nobody thought it could be beat. Take the win, kid, is Herrmann’s advice.Natalie went into the firehouse and hasn’t returned.

Stella finds her behind the building, getting high. Stella chides her. Go home.

Get yourself together. It IS a big deal. She can return, but only if she can handle it without getting a buzz on.

Violet can’t shake the feeling that they missed something with that call. Novak wonders if it was hypoglycemia. Lots of men hit the weights hard and forget to eat carbs.

Flynn will join Violet at Molly’s tonight. Novak thinks it’s like another case she can’t crack.Novak stops by to see Pascal, just to check in.

He says he’s fine, but she enters anyway. Being OK would be a little weird, considering everything. He knows people think he came back too soon, but he needed to be here.

But after the MVA yesterday, he sees their point. He’s not handling this well. (Peter Gordon/NBC)She says they’re similar — both front-runners, pushing through the hard stuff without running away.

He says she has a good memory — yes, for things that made an impression. She hopes to see him next shift.Novak finds Damon at Molly’s and joshes him for being there.

She thinks he’s avoiding her, and he doesn’t have to lie about it. There’s something about Natalie that Stella really likes. Kelly is surprised when she signs up for extra Molly’s shifts.

Everyone needs to find their light in the darkness, especially in her job. He welcome her spilling the tea in his direction.

He’d like her to share her pain with him as much as her happiness. She skirts that suggestion and asks for another drink. Uh oh.

She’s pushing him away.Next shift, Novak asks if Herrmann is taking over Pascal’s shift, but he’s right behind her. (Peter Gordon/NBC)Stella asks the GoF about Natalie Evans.

Do any of them know her? Nobody does. Damon visits Herrmann, hose in hand. He got it caught on something and it’s frayed.

Herrmann isn’t happy about this because he has to suck up to the guys to get another one. Damon offers to pay for it, and Herrmann is like, huh? Don’t beat yourself up over mistakes and never offer to pay. Total wussy move.

Ambo has a new call. A guy named Connor is in a very weird state. His roommate says he’s into all the clean mean stuff, so he couldn’t have done drugs.

They find a gaping wound on his leg. Spider bite? No, it’s an injection mark. It’s probably septic.

His roommate looks like he’s going to gag. Connor is getting violent, and they need his roommates help. He’s like, that is so nasty, I’m not getting near him! They get him on the stair chair to head to Med.

How did that guy let it get so far? Geez.Violet notices a Kettle Fitness bag on the ground, tying Connor to the first case. (Peter Gordon/NBC)Amy at the consumer center knows Natalie, who hasn’t been seen in about a week.

Natalie thought she knew about it because of Amy, but Stella is skeptical. Natalie left an address, and Stella wants to stop by later. She has been distracting herself from all the waiting.

What if they never get the chance to bring a baby into their lives? The waiting is getting to Kelly, too. He even told Capp he’d go somewhere with him tomorrow night. Stella laughs.

He sees nothing in Damon’s locker, which makes him pensive.

The address Natalie left is a construction site. Yep, this is going to be their kid. She’s probably homeless.

Novak gives Pascal good news about Jenna.Violet’s hunch panned out. They’re using an animal tranc of some kind.

Xylazine? But that’s not all. They also have off-market steroids in their system. Kettle dude is making quick cash but cutting steroids with Xylazine.

So much for clean living. (Peter Gordon/NBC)Connor turned him in once he realized what was happening. Novak is so excited.

Violet should be a detective. Vi doesn’t understand why these guys mess with something good by going that route. Sometimes people aren’t happy with just good.

Violet gets a message from Carver. He’ll be back next shift. Yay!!Damon is wiping down the truck when Herrmann sees his giant bag.

He can use the locker. This isn’t a trial. This is for the long haul.

This is Damon’s home now, too. Herrmann has already figured out Damon has no intention of blowing his second chance, but he appreciates hearing it anyway.Pascal is already packing up Monica’s stuff.

He gets through it with a bottle of whisky. He pulls her perfume out of the bag, smells it, and puts it on the dresser, a lovely dress, too.Stella is connected to Natalie by a rescue.
