According to the FOX 32 Chicago's weather report, the bulk of wind damage occurred in northwest Indiana, with heavy rainfall being the prominent feature in Chicagoland throughout the previous day. Calmer conditions are predicted ahead, with no severe storms expected in the coming week.

The National Weather Service, as stated on their website, paints today's forecast with increasing clouds and temperatures peaking around 55 degrees, accompanied by a brisk west southwest wind that could gust up to 30 mph providing Chicagoans an encore of the windy city moniker it’s known for despite the fortuitous miss of severe weather.Moving into tonight, the city can expect mostly cloudy skies with a low settling near 42 degrees. The shift in the wind direction to northeast after midnight might bring quieter winds, though gusts may still reach 15 mph.

As the weekend approaches, the possibility of showers ascends with a 60% chance of rain Friday afternoon, which is set to continue and intensify into Friday night when precipitation chances hit a surefire 100%.The damp conditions will persist into Saturday, when Chicago will face a 40% chance of showers and peak temperatures lingering in the cooler spectrum at 49 degrees. The high winds will certainly intensify the chill and give baseball fans at Wrigley Field a reason to bundle up as they root for the Cubs.

However, the outlook improves slightly by Sunday, tipping towards dryness and slightly warmer climes nearing the 50-degree mark. Monday could bring a mix of rain and snow showers before the skies clear once more in the following week.Looking at the longer-term forecast, Chicago residents can expect a gradual uptick in temperatures towards the midweek, with sunny skies and highs potentially reaching the mid-50s by Wednesday, providing a brief respite from the fickle spring weather that has draped the city in a blanket of clouds and precipitation.
