In the latest episode of the We Need To Talk podcast , the singer-rapper opened up about her time signed to SYCO and Epic Records, revealing that she was advised to pursue a romance with Justin Bieber as a method to promote one of her albums. “I walked into the record label at the time and they hadn’t given me a promotional budget..

. We spent millions on this album, but there’s no budget to go get people to hear it?” Lloyd told host Paul Brunson. “I walked in and said, ‘Look, I really need some cash to push this record.

” “Was I not good enough to invest in, that you would rather use me in that way? They didn’t care,” Lloyd stated, reflecting on how she felt devalued while signed. Watch the full episode below. Lloyd was on the podcast to promote her new music, which she is releasing independently.

I’m just me,” she said. “Being an independent artist now and having complete control over everything I do is the best for me.” At the time of writing, neither Justin Bieber nor any representatives from him, SYCO, or Epic Records have responded to Lloyd’s comments.
