A CHEPSTOW company has been featured on CNN for its innovative underwater project. The start-up, named DEEP, was showcased on a special programme called Blueprint, which highlighted UK innovations. The focus was on its underwater habitat, Sentinel, which aims to revolutionise ocean exploration.
Ethan Butler, DEEP's chief development officer, told CNN: "Our motto is to make humans aquatic. "Our goal is to help understand all of the myriad ways that the ocean benefits us all, whether we recognise it or not. "And to do it in a way that is unobtrusive and aligned with the ocean.
" The company announced that its modules would allow scientists to reside at a depth of up to 200 metres, aiming to enhance scientific exploration. Lead diver Phil Short informed the network of the potential future developments, saying: "Scientifically and physiologically, the possibility for subsea villages is absolutely there." Innovations could eventually lead to underwater tourism or even living underwater, the company said.
The CNN show also highlighted other groundbreaking UK projects, including flying taxis and sustainable housing solutions..
