An international chef’s award-winning Bolton restaurant has been nominated for the Bolton News’ Best Curry House 2024 awards. Sai Spice won favour with our Bolton readers who took to the polls last month to vote for their favourite curry restaurant in the borough. It is one of the top ten finalists.
Sai Spice has been in Bolton for almost a decade. Before that, its chef Kishankant Shah worked in some of the biggest hotels in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Kausik Saha, CEO and director of Sai Spice, said: “Chef Shah was a head chef in hotels in Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach and won a lot of awards while working there.
“He moved to the UK and after some time, he wanted his own restaurant. “He finally got the chance to open Sai Spice in 2011. And we’ve been one of the more successful restaurants in Bolton ever since.
“We’re proud of him. He designed the menu and takes all the credit for being nominated for this award. “We just serve the dishes that he created.
“Our customers speak for us." Kishankant is from West Bengal. And Sai Spice serves authentic North Indian and West Bengali dishes for the Desi palate and British Indian classics.
Kausik said: “Our signature dishes are the Sai Juicy Lamb and Macher Jhol, a spicy fish curry from West Bengal. “They are hard to find. “And also the jackfruit bhuna, it’s an amazing curry, but it's fully vegan.
“A lot of people are scared of the term 'vegan'. They try to stay away from it. “But it is one of the best dishes we have.
” And fans of real Desi food and Bollywood can enjoy a meal at Sai Spice after a good film . Kausik said: “We have teamed up with Cineworld, which is right next to our restaurant. “It plays a lot of Bollywood movies.
"And that brings a lot of people who genuinely enjoy authentic Indian food here.” To vote pick up a copy of today's newspaper..
