Cheddar fire crews help tackle large chip pan fire in a kitchen in Burnham

The kitchen in a house in Burnham on Sea has been left 'severely damaged' after a fire broke out on Saturday evening (December 14). Fire crews from Bridgwater, Burnham and Cheddar were called at around 6pm after reports of a fire at a property in the town.

Fire crews from Bridgwater, Burnham and Cheddar were called at around 6pm after reports of a fire at a property in the town. Three fire engines and an Operational Assurance Officer were sent to the location. On arrival, crews confirmed this to be a fire in the kitchen with smoke and flames issuing.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "Crews entered the property with two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet and one covering jet. All persons were accounted for." This was a fire involving a chip pan in the kitchen of the property, the fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet, one safety jet, triple extension ladder, thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the property of smoke.



The spokesman added: "An Ambulance was also sent to help one person suffering with smoke inhalation. The occupant was conveyed to hospital for precautionary checks. "The property suffered severe fire damage to the room of origin and the rest was damaged by smoke.

"The cause was accidental. Duty of care was left with the occupiers.".
