The Chatra constituency saw outgoing MLA Satyanand Bhogta's daughter-in-law, Rashmi Prakash, contest on an RJD ticket from the SC community, following Bhogta community’s reclassification as ST. This decision, which involved Bhogta's son Mukesh marrying an SC woman, has caused discontent within the Bhogta community.
She faces former MLA Janardan Paswan of the LJP-Ramvilas. The counting process consists of 27 rounds in Chatra with eleven candidates in fray.
Security measures at Chatra College include CCTV surveillance and deployment of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), and district police. Authorities have prohibited intoxicants and electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptops, inside the counting center.
