99) as a special welcome gift! Four weeks after , OpenAI has updated the app to support all users, not just paying customers. This new version of the app is accessible via an Alt + Space keyboard shortcut, and it provides a companion window that lets you pick up where you left off, ask follow-up questions, or start a new chat. ChatGPT for Windows can answer questions, search the web, share screenshots, and upload multiple files and photos.
There’s also an Advanced Voice feature so you can chat with the computer in real-time and get hands-free advice and answers while you work. The app works with Windows 10 and Windows 11, including Windows 11 on Arm. The Mac version of the app has been around for longer, but it’s still in early beta, and with this latest update, it’s starting to integrate with apps, starting with developer tools like Visual Studio Code, Xcode, Terminal, and iTerm2.
OpenAI says it will add support for more apps soon. The integration sounds interesting: Instead of copying and pasting code into ChatGPT, it can instead connect with your developer IDE so it can evaluate the content in the app and provide faster and more context-aware answers to your questions. This feature requires a ChatGPT Plus or Team account, and support for Enterprise and Education users is coming in the next few weeks.
“We plan to rapidly improve its capabilities,” OpenAI notes. . .
