Chartered accountant, wife duped of Rs 86L by nephew

Times News Network Ludhiana: A chartered accountant and his wife were duped of Rs 86 lakh by their nephew. It has been alleged that the accused sold the stocks of some companies to the couple, without their knowledge. The matter came to the fore when the complainant asked the accused to get the payout of Rs 27 lakh done from the stocks.

On the complaint of Sanjay Kumar of Aryan Enclave of Thareeke, the Sadar police conducted an inquiry following which they registered a case against Abhishek Kumar, a resident or Ayali Kalan who is a nephew (sister’s son) of the complainant. ASI Rajinderpal from Sadar police station said that the police probe found that Abhishek sold stocks of the couple without their permission and grabbed about Rs 86 lakh. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318 (cheating) of the IPC, who is yet to be arrested.



Sanjay, an accountant, had filed a complaint with the police on Sep 12, following which an inquiry was conducted. Abhishek approached his uncle Sanjay in 2018 to learn accounts-related work and stock market investment. Sanjay hired him as his assistant and Abhishk worked with him till July 2022.

Thereafter, Abhishek left work saying that he wanted to learn more about stock market investment at Ludhiana stock exchange. In Jan 2023, Abhishek returned to Sanjay and said that he did not have money to invest. On Abhishek’s proposal, Sanjay agreed to hire him as his stock market investment manager and divide the profit earned.
