Charlottesville police searching for one-armed man who drew gun on person near cemetery

The 34-year-old suspect, Marco Antonio Berberena Perez, is wanted for attempted malicious wounding, domestic assault and brandishing a firearm.

Charlottesville police are seeking the public’s assistance tracking down a one-armed man accused of drawing a gun on a person near Riverview Cemetery in the city earlier this week. Perez The 34-year-old suspect, Marco Antonio Berberena Perez, is wanted for attempted malicious wounding, domestic assault and brandishing a firearm. Perez has been described as Hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing 160 pounds and standing 5-foot-5.

He is missing his left arm. He was last seen Monday wearing khaki pants, a black sweatshirt and a black beanie cap, police said. Officers were dispatched to a reported disturbance on Short 18th Street near Riverview Cemetery in the city’s Woolen Mills neighborhood on Monday.



Perez’s unnamed victim informed police that he had pointed a gun at their head and threatened to shoot them, according to a police statement issued Tuesday. “Perez fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival,” police said their statement. “He was last seen at approximately 1:30 PM on Short 18th Street.
