Michigan football is preparing for its Saturday kickoff at noon ET in Columbus, Ohio against Ryan Day, Will Howard and the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes. Michigan is a 20 point or more underdog in most sportsbooks heading into the contest, and few people expect coach Sherrone Moore's team to win 'The Game' considering their mediocre 6-5 record on the season.

On Thursday, legendary Michigan defensive back, former two-way player and Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson shared his thoughts on the Moore regime in year one along with the two reasons he still has faith that Jim Harbaugh's hand-picked successor will turn things around before his time in Ann Arbor is up. The Wolverines lost starting QB JJ McCarthy from last year's National Championship winning team to the NFL Draft along with their entire starting offensive line and most of their coaching staff. "You've seen how we've looked at, you know, the quarterback position," Woodson said. "We know that when you look at the top teams right now, they got guys that are at the helm distributing the football who are really good players.

" Moore and the Wolverines flipped the number one overall Class of 2025 QB prospect, Bryce Underwood, from LSU to Michigan recently. "You've got to get that position solidified," Woodson added. Woodson also explained that the loss of All-American cornerback Will Johnson and the newness of the offensive line have been key areas of concern.

"(The) offensive line, most of those guys are gone on to play at the next level. So now, coach, you know, you talk about it a lot. You talk about a position group on the field that really has to have that continuity.

It's that offensive line. "Sherrone just needs a little time, like I said, we got this new quarterback coming in," Woodson added. "So that'll bring some energy to the program and then just continue to build on, his smash mentality.

You know, he always talks about smash, and I know he's a good coach. And I think he'll get this thing turned around for sure." Related: Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy Makes Surprise Announcement on Bryce Underwood NIL Venture.
