A charity shop has become a clearance store selling branded clothing at discounted prices — with bosses saying its previous prices were ‘not working’. The British Heart Foundation in Market Place, Spalding , is now offering clothing for as little as £1 following comments from customers. Manager Charlotte Severn said the shop layout has changed and feels that the move is needed with Spalding now a ‘dead town’.

She said: “We have cut our prices drastically after listening to our customers saying the prices were not working for them and not what they were expecting. “The prices have gone down and we have changed our style. “Spalding is turning into a bit of a dead town and the prices were not working for the town.

” Clothing from labels such as Next, Primark, Jaeger, Roman, White Stuff, Topshop, Boohoo and Marks and Spencer can be purchased from the shop. Men’s items start at £2 with ladies’ tops, knitwear, skirts and trousers from £2, dresses £4 and shoes and boots from £5. The shop layout has been changed too — which is good for customers with mobility issues as there is more room to manoeuvre.

Ms Severn said: “The shop is now accessible for mobility scooters so they can actually come in now and shop which is really important. “It is really bright and vibrant and has a good atmosphere. "We want to let people know as some didn’t even know we were here.

” The face of the High Street is changing in the once vibrant market town with shops and banks closing including Hughes , Barclays and Halifax . Ms Severn says that donations are still welcome to be made at the shop including clothing, books, DVDs, household items and bric-a-brac.
