Wessex Cancer Support is asking residents across Hampshire, Dorset, and the Isle of Wight to join the initiative between Monday, May 5 and Sunday, May 11. The idea is straightforward: gather with friends, family or colleagues and share cake and tea in exchange for donations. Catherine Price, Wessex Cancer Support’s director of fundraising, said: "Cakes4Cancer is all about people coming together to enjoy something delicious for a great cause.
"Whether it’s faked or baked, every cake sold could help change someone’s life for the better. "It really is a piece of cake." The charity aims to provide free emotional support to everyone affected by cancer and believes initiatives like Cakes4Cancer can make a significant difference.
People can choose to host gatherings of any size, in person or virtually, such as a coffee morning at work, an afternoon tea with friends or a bake sale at school. To assist in hosting their own event, a free kit can be obtained from the charity. This includes event ideas, cake toppers, posters and recipe cards.
Wessex Cancer Support believes that each event, no matter the size, can contribute to improving the lives of those affected by cancer..
