Charge Point Operator ChargEV has announced an exclusive partnership with eLoaded to implement DC grid systems as part of its EV charging network expansion. The collaboration is said to pave way for faster, more efficient and sustainable EV charging solutions. According to ChargEV, eLoaded’s advanced DC grid technology optimises energy distribution, while the strategic integration of shared expertise will allow both companies to maximise the potential of this innovative system.

This would help to future-proof ChargEV’s upcoming charging hubs which will be crucial to boost range confidence among current and potential electric vehicle owners. eLoaded’s DC grid system will power chargEV’s fast-charging hubs and ensuring optimised energy distribution to handle high demand during peak times. Designed for scalability, the advanced grid system supports charging loads of up to 6.



3MW, while reducing energy transmission losses by up to 30%. The partnership is in line with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which targets net-zero emissions by 2050. Commenting on the collaboration, ChargEV Managing Director Seng Teong Chua said eLoaded’s DC grid technology is a game-changer for the EV industry.

This will enable a seamless, efficient, and sustainable network that meets the demands of modern EV drivers. By sharing expertise and leveraging our collective strengths, we’re not just deploying advanced technology—we’re shaping the future of EV charging infrastructure.

” Meanwhile, eLoaded CEO Frank Steinbacher said, “We’re excited to collaborate with chargEV to set a new standard for EV charging infrastructure. This partnership showcases the versatility of our DC grid technology, extending its applications beyond data centres and industrial operations to revolutionise charging infrastructure as well.” One of eLoaded’s notable deployments include Sortimo Innovations Park in Zusmarshausen, Germany which is home to a large-scale EV charging hub with over 70 DC charge points.

The location features multiple ceiling-mounted and liquid cooled SupraCharger nozzles that offer more than 300kW of DC charging and free-standing eLiix DC nozzles that can deliver 35kW and 140kW of DC charging. When we visited this EV charging hub in July, they have a total of 60 DC charge points which are supplemented by a Tesla SuperCharger with 12 stalls and a Nio Power Swap Station. This epic charging hub still has room to expand and the park is expected to have 144 charge points under Phase 2.

Since it is located next to the Autobahn between Munich and Stuttgart, the charging hub makes a great R&R stop for EV owners complete with F&B outlets, children’s playground and toilet facilities. What’s interesting is that these chargers will start charging your EV at a low speed upon plugging in and you can unlock faster speeds after payment is made via the app or through the payment terminal. As announced in June last year, ChargEV plans to deploy a Hyperpower EV charging hub at Seremban Southbound R&R with 8 bays.

In the past year, ChargEV has been upgrading its existing EV charging infrastructure from AC to DC chargers along PLUS highway while deploying multiple high-powered EV charging hubs at various destinations including Aeon Mall Shah Alam , Eco Galleria and The Starling Mall . However, looking at the latest site upgrades along interstate highway, there seems to be power capacity challenges as several locations could only offer DC charging of up to 47kW. One option to overcome such challenges is to deploy EV chargers with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) which have been deployed in several R&Rs and Lay-bys along the North-South Expressway.

More BESS-assisted EV chargers are expected to be deployed in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the coming months. [ SOURCE ].
