Multiple incidents on the railway caused travel chaos for commuters. Today services in Sussex were disrupted by a total of five incidents, leaving trains delayed and cancelled. Southern Rail reported three instances of trespassing, in Angmering, near Lancing and near Brighton .

The incident near Lancing was reported at approximately 2.30pm, with trains running at a reduced speed between Worthing and Shoreham. READ MORE: Recap: Major disruption on railway Emergency services were called, although upon "thorough investigation" by Network Rail, no one was located on the track and services were returned to normal.



Shortly after this, a trespasser was reported on the track near Brighton. All lines were blocked in and out of the city, with trains running between Lewes and Brighton unable to move. Power was restored to the tracks at around 4.

50pm, before being promptly switched off again around 40 minutes later while emergency services assisted a person on the railway. Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service have been approached for further information.

The rail network also reported a level crossing being misused near Arundel, between Horsham and Barnham, and a communication alarm being activated on a train at Angmering earlier, all of which caused further disruption to services. Tickets were accepted on alternate train services, as well as buses, while disruption continued until around 9pm..
