1 2 3 Pune: Chandannagar police intercepted a car on Nagpal Road, with "police" and "IB" written on its front windshield, around 2.20pm on Friday. The car's driver was found carrying a police baton.
Police registered a case of impersonation and misuse of govt symbols against the car driver, a real estate agent who also trades in second-hand vehicles. Senior inspector Anil Mane of Chandannagar police said, "The car driver, a resident of Keshavnagar in Mundhwa, is not a police constable or officer, but he puts up stickers of police and IB on the car just to mislead traffic police on roads." He said, "We served him a notice asking him to cooperate with the investigations.
During questioning, the driver told us that he had placed stickers of ‘police' and ‘IB' on the car's windshield to impress his girlfriend. He said he borrowed the police baton from his friend, a police constable, about a month ago and kept it with him."
