The absence of Pakistan’s name in the Champions Trophy 2025 branding during the live telecast of India’s match against Bangladesh has sparked a new controversy. An aggrieved Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly asked ICC for an explanation. During the live broadcast of the India vs Bangladesh contest on Thursday in Dubai, the Champions Trophy 2025 logo was present on the top left corner of the match telecast, but co-host Pakistan’s name was missing.

The ICC has reportedly clarified that future matches in the tournament, whether played in Pakistan or UAE, will feature Pakistan’s name during the live telecast.



The major reason behind PCB’s dissatisfaction is the fact that graphics for live matches are prepared in advance. This makes it difficult to explain how Pakistan’s name was present under the Champions Trophy 2025 logo during the live telecast of the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand but went missing in India’s game. Pakistan are the original hosts of the Champions Trophy 2025 and barring India, all other teams are playing their matches in Pakistan.

The Indian cricket team is playing all its matches in Dubai after refusing to visit Pakistan due to security issues. As a result, the ICC came up with a hybrid model where India will play their matches at a neutral venue including the semi-final and final if they qualify. Also, Pakistan will not be required to visit India for an ICC event till 2027.
