Central & east India also likely to see dip in temp, says IMD

Mostly clear skies are expected during the day with maximum temperatures ranging from 12-16 C. A cold wave in the plains is indicated by minimum temperatures of 10 C or less and 4.5 C below normal. A temperature fall is predicted in Uttar Pradesh, Central India, East India, and Maharashtra over the next five days.

Though there will mostly be clear skies during the day, the maximum (day) temperatures in the region are expected to be in the range of 12-16 C. In the plains, a cold wave is considered when the minimum (night) temperature of a station is 10 C or less and it is at least 4.5 below normal.

Fall in minimum temperatures by 4 to 6 C is also predicted for Uttar Pradesh during the next five days. Later, a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from Jan 6, causing rainfall or snowfall over the western Himalayan region. Other parts of the country may also see a gradual fall in temperatures during the next three to five days.



IMD predicted a fall in minimum temperatures by 3 to 5 C over central India during the next five days, beginning Tuesday. Similarly, east India may experience a fall in minimum temperatures by 3 to 4 C during the next three days from Tuesday, and Maharashtra may see a fall in minimum temperatures by 2 to 4 over the next five days.
