And the roar that greeted Brendan Rodgers ’ men and Slovan Bratislava as the Champions League anthem played out at Celtic Park left one mascot covering his ears - while the Hoops' stars lapped up the cauldron their fans had created. Things only got better once the first whistle sounded in Glasgow's east end at the Scottish Premiership leaders steamrolled the Slovakian champions to get their league phase campaign off to a perfect start.

Liam Scales put Celtic on the path to victory before Kyogo’s strike early in the second half doubled the lead. Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as Arne Engels netted from the penalty spot. Slovan would get their first goal in the revamped format with Kevin Wimmer's stunning strike before Daizen Maeda added a fourth before substitute Adam Idah completed the romp with a late fifth.

But before the show got underway, eagle-eyed punters spotted one mascot who was left deafened by the punters. While the sheer noise couldn't be conveyed on the TV screens, one youngster was spotted covering his ears before kick-off. The players also soaked up the moment.

As the camera panned along the line-up, Kasper Schmeichel was seen smiling while Kyogo Furuhashi appeared to mutter "wow" to himself before the spectacular display.
