Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers refused to criticise captain Callum McGregor after their loss to St Johnstone. The Parkhead side was defeated by a fourth-minute header from Daniels Balodis, marking their second loss in three games. This brought their dropped points for 2025 to 14.
Rodgers was critical of his team after the match, questioning their levels of desire and drive. "When you're comfortable, you become a bit timid, and you lose duels, and you lose the fight.
"And you can never be that if you want to be a top player." He singled out McGregor, however, as an exception to his criticism. He said: "And I'm not talking here about boys like Callum McGregor, who deals with expectation, who deals with being the underdog in the Champions League and guys like that.
