Celts have spent more than £40million this season but the jury remains out on some signings

Brendan Rodgers sanctioned a £6m deal to sign Trusty from Sheffield United last summer but the jury remains out on the defender. The USA international impressed on the Champions League stage as Celts reached the knockouts, but has flattered to deceive domestically. Idah's goalscoring heroics on loan last season - including his last-gasp Scottish Cup Final winner over Rangers - convinced the Hoops to splash out £9m to land the striker from Norwich.

But the Irish powerhouse has spent most of the campaign on the bench, casting doubt over his long-term future in Glasgow. Now, Sunday Mail columnist Hugh Keevins has delivered a damning verdict on the duo by telling Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: “Management is a solitary business. "Brendan Rodgers is thinking, ‘What is going on with these people? I will have to make changes (in the summer), because of this complacency’.

“When he says ‘new players are required’, yeah, he is right. Auston Trusty. Waste of money.

Adam Idah. Waste of money.” Meanwhile Celtic outcast Luis Palma is a Greek champion - but won't be joining Olympiacos permanently.

The Honduran international was an unused sub on Sunday as the Red and Whites defeated AEK Athens 1-0 to clinch the Super League title. Palma soaked up the celebrations as the most successful club in Greece wrestled back their crown for the first time in three years. But the winger's time at the Karaiskakis Stadium is poised to be short-lived, with his loan club deciding against triggering an option-to-buy clause.

Reports in Palma's homeland state that the 25-year-old is on a tightrope, adding: "Luis Palma's future at Olympiacos is uncertain, despite being crowned league champion this Sunday. "The Greek club will not exercise its purchase option at the end of the season. The Honduran arrived on loan from Celtic, but failed to establish himself fully.

" Although Palma will end the season as a double title winner in Greece and Scotland, the attacker now faces an uncertain future. The former Aris star has scored just once in ten games for Olympiacos, starting only five times, after struggling to cement a starting spot. Last week, he was linked with a summer switch to Dynamo Kyiv before Ukrainian media quickly rubbished the speculation as "untrue".

Under contract at Parkhead until 2028, Celts will be keen to recoup the £3.5m they paid Aris for his services in July 2023. Rodgers has already deemed the 20-times capped Honduran surplus to requirements after handing his number 7 jersey to January signing Jota.
