Get ready for a cosmic treat that rarely happens. The crescent Moon, Venus, and Saturn are to form an unusual triple conjunction that will draw a “smiley face” in the early morning sky on April 25. This gorgeous alignment will be seen across the globe, at sunrise, and can be savored by everyone with an open view of the eastern horizon.

All you need is a good location with an unobstructed view of the eastern horizon, says NASA expert Mitzi Adams. Venus and Saturn will be visible to the naked eye, but a telescope or binoculars may reveal more detail in the crescent Moon. The “smiley face” will be visible around 5:30 a.

m. local time and will remain visible for about an hour before the sun gets in the way. This delightful conjunction follows hard on the heels of the Lyrid meteor shower, which peaked April 21-22 and delivered up to 15 shooting stars per hour in dark skies.

Collectively, the two make the week an interesting one for sky enthusiasts. NASA Solar System Ambassador Brenda Culbertson paints the picture: Venus and Saturn will appear as the “eyes,” and the slender crescent Moon will create a curved line below them, making a triangle that looks like a smiley face.If you’re fortunate, you might even be able to spot Mercury just below the smile, although it will probably be more difficult to spot as it will be low on the horizon.

Don’t worry if you don’t spot it – the “smiley face” itself is a once-in-a-lifetime and uplifting sight that’s worth getting up for. Also Read: NASA’s Perseverance Rover Discovers Mysterious Skull Shaped Rock On Mars The post Celestial smiley: Venus, Saturn, and Moon align in rare triple conjunction, here’s how to watch appeared first on KalingaTV..
