The Anne Robson Trust is calling on the public to help thousands of people who will spend their final days in hospitals this Christmas, by raising money for end-of-life volunteer services across the UK. The campaign has received celebrity backing, including support from Rob Rinder - better known as TV's Judge Rinder. "It’s unfair that so many people spend the last days of their life with no visitors," he said.

"I’m pleased to support the Anne Robson Trust this Christmas, as they help hospitals set up teams of volunteers to visit patients dying on the ward. "No one should have to die alone. Let’s give the gift of companionship – when it is needed the most.

" The campaign seeks to raise enough funds to train four volunteer coordinators in 2025, each costing £500. Coordinators are essential to creating and sustaining end-of-life support services, ensuring more patients and families benefit from their kindness and support. Dr Amir Khan, who regularly appears on Lorraine, has also pledged his support, adding: "In hospitals across the country, hardworking ward staff are simply unable to sit with every dying patient and give them the companionship they deserve.

"That’s why I am backing the Anne Robson Trust’s mission to set up teams of volunteer visitors, to bring compassion and comfort to people in their precious final days." Dr Emeka Okorocha added: "The end of life matters. This Christmas, I’m supporting the Anne Robson Trust, as they raise funds to help hospitals set up teams of volunteers to visit patients dying on the ward.

"What a privileged role – to sit with someone whose time is measured in just days or hours. To hold their hand, or talk with them. I hope you’ll join me in helping them reach their target.
