CLOSE to a hundred schools from the different cities and municipalities in Cebu participated in the FIFA Football for Schools workshop on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Department of Education Ecotech Pavilion in Cebu City. “The FIFA Football for School program workshop at the Ecotech Pavilion was a significant milestone for CRFA in strengthening grassroots football development in Cebu,” Cebu Regional Football Association (CRFA) president Engr. Rodney Orale told SunStar Cebu.
The FIFA Football for Schools is a program by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) and the CRFA in cooperation with the Department of Education. “Initiated by the PFF through CRFA, the event marked a pivotal moment for us in aligning football programs across both public and private schools in the region. With the support of teachers who are passionate about football coaching, the program is laying a solid foundation for young athletes to develop their skills and love for the game,” said Orale.
Participants of the program are schools from the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Talisay, Carcar, Danao, Naga, and Toledo and the municipalites of Badian, Barili, Balamban, Alcoy, Madridejos, Dalaguete, Minglanilla, Argao, Badian, Sibonga, San Fernando, Liloan, and Consolacion. School representatives attended the workshop and received resources as part of the initiative. A total of 2,000 footballs were distributed among the participating schools.
“About 89 school recipients across Cebu province, each receiving a minimum of 20 Size-4 footballs, demonstrates the commitment to making football accessible and sustainable for all students. This initiative not only provides essential resources but also empowers educators to foster a culture of football that will inspire future generations,” said Orale. “We are touched truly by the presence of some school principals who took time to attend the workshop.
