ISLAMABAD - The Capital Development Authority has decided to hire a consultant for the third party verifications of ongoing development projects to enhance transparency. The 7th meeting of the CDA Board was held on Tuesday at the CDA Headquarters, chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by CDA Board members as well as relevant senior officers of CDA.
Various agenda items were discussed in detail during the CDA Board meeting. According to details, the seventh CDA Board meeting decided to hire a consultant for the third-party audit of CDA’s ongoing development projects. It was earlier decided to have third party audit of all the projects of CDA in order to ensure transparency in line with the internal accountability.
Similarly, it was decided that the names of illegal housing societies would not only be uploaded on the CDA website as well as highlight it in media so that people should be aware about investing their hard earned money in illegal societies. Additionally, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that the list of legal housing societies should also be uploaded zone-wise on the CDA website. He said that CDA will not only upload illegal housing societies zone wise but will upload legal housing societies so that citizens should know about the legal status of the housing society in which they are going to have investment.
Only those reforms yield results that have ownership of stakeholders: CJP During the seventh CDA Board meeting, approval was granted for new positions to enhance the performance and capacity of the Estate Management Directorate-3. Furthermore, the meeting decided to restore Plot No. 28 in the I-8 Markaz after completion of all codal formalise in line with restoration of plots policy of CDA.
The restoration of plot will be conditional upon the clearance of all outstanding dues. The CDA Board also approved the re-planning, construction, and development of the Arts and Craft Village. In this regard, Chairman CDA directed the Member Engineering and Member Planning to have visit of the Arts and Craft Village in order to have on-ground assessment and suggest measures for its further improvement so that Art and Craft Village will not only be a model village but will be an additional tourist destination for local and international tourists point.
The meeting also decided to establish a Building and Housing Control Agency to address various challenges and issues related to building and housing control besides easing out the problems of people regarding their property matters in the federal capital. Additionally, approval was granted for the timely construction of a food street and pedestrian tracks in the Blue Area. The seventh CDA Board meeting also approved a three-month extension for Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) to continue garbage and waste collection and transportation services to dumping sites. It was decided that RWMC would collect and transport waste daily from across the city to Islamabad’s waste transfer stations and then to designated dumping sites. The meeting also approved the establishment of permanent dumping sites for Islamabad, keeping in view future requirements.
During the briefing it was informed that the Asian Development Bank’s technical expertise and experience would be fully utilized for the construction of dumping sites. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that the dumping sites would be constructed based on scientific principles, minimizing carbon emissions and environmental pollution, while incorporating modern requirements. He added that the dumping sites would be developed as “Waste-to-Energy” projects, aligned with future needs.
