The next hearing is scheduled for October 15, when the CBI is expected to update the court on the status of the pending sanctions. The ' Land for Jobs ' case dates back to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. The CBI alleges that during this period, several individuals were appointed to Group D positions within the Indian Railways in exchange for land parcels.

These land transfers were allegedly made either in the name of Yadav’s family members or close associates, without proper valuation and often at rates below the market price. Over 100 people have been under investigation in the 'Land for Jobs' case, including Yadav's family members and former railway officials. The CBI filed a charge sheet against Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav and others.
