Housing Trust Group and Cathedral District Jacksonville have plans for a multi-family development with affordable housing. Cathedral District Apartments (which could be renamed in the future) would offer 85 apartments, with 75 designated as affordable housing for those earning up to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). The remaining 10 would be market-rate apartments.
Floorplans would include one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts. Communal amenities would include more than 8,000 square feet of indoor amenity space, including a fitness center, business center, and library. There would also be outdoor amenities, including barbecue stations and a 760-square-foot swimming pool, according to .
The multi-level apartment complex, which developers estimate will cost $36.5 million to complete, will also feature 1,200 square feet of ground-floor retail and commercial space. The building’s first two levels will offer parking.
To make the project possible, Housing Trust Group and Cathedral District Jacksonville approached the Downtown Investment Authority (DIA), requesting the free acquisition of three parcels totaling 0.21 acres. Previously, the sites were home to structures that were deemed unsafe and later demolished by order of the DIA.
