As Coleen Rooney ventures into the I'm A Celebrity jungle, fans are revisiting the Wagatha Christie saga through documentaries now streaming for free. Currently, there are two documentaries available that delve into the full narrative of the spat between Coleen and Rebekah Vardy, which escalated to a courtroom showdown. Coleen accused Rebekah in a sensational social media post of leaking stories to The Sun, sparking a defamation lawsuit.
In July 2022, the High Court found in favour of Coleen, declaring her claims "substantially true". Now viewers can catch up on everything surrounding the trial, including what led to the case and the fallout as the story gripped the nation. One documentary titled Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, initially produced for Disney+, centres on Coleen's perspective, offering her insights into the drama's escalation.
This three-part docuseries is now accessible for free on ITVX. On the other hand, Wagspiracy: Vardy v Rooney is a feature-length doc featuring interviews with individuals who were not called as witnesses during the trial, reports the Mirror . It scrutinises the entire case and its captivating effect on the public, and it's currently streaming for free on BBC iPlayer.
A snippet from the synopsis states: "Exploring the motivations behind each of these high-profile women, and the treatment they've faced online and in the press, it examines why 'Wagatha Christie' and its subsequent trial at the High Court became such a big story. With contributions from 'WAGs', journalists and media professionals, it looks at the fallout for all those involved." Coleen Rooney has now stepped into the jungle for the newest season of I'm A Celebrity, following in the footsteps of Rebekah Vardy, who graced the show in 2017.
Hosts Ant and Dec, along with fellow campmates, wasted no time in jesting about the recent legal squabble. During Sunday's debut episode, prior to the vote determining the participants for a Bushtucker trial, Dec quipped: "It will be nice for her (Coleen) to face trial that doesn't involve Rebekah Vardy." This wasn't the only nod to the saga, as Dean Mcullough jokingly apologised to his Radio 1 cohort Melvin Odoom as he opted for Coleen to be his race partner, stating: "Melvin, I'm so so sorry, Wagatha Christie you're coming with me.
" On I'm A Celeb 's spin-off show broadcast after the main episode, host Joel Dommett playfully referenced Coleen's legal drama. He said: "We saw Coleen Rooney's boat sinking. It's not the first time she's had issues with a leak.
"Don't worry I won't be spending the next three weeks just doing jokes about Wagatha Christie. Everyone relax. This show is all about the camp action that will be delving deeper than a certain agent's phone in the North sea.
" Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story is streaming on ITVX and Disney+ while Wagspiracy: Vardy v Rooney is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
