Pune: A caste-based census with the implementation of all recommendations of the Mandal Commission, formulation of a law to provide a minimum support price for crops , free education up to postgraduation for all, and free electricity up to 200 units are some of the promises made in the manifesto of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, which was released in Pune on Tuesday. On the lines of Mahayuti's ‘Mukhyamantri Mazhi Ladki Bahin' scheme, where women aged 21 to 65 receive Rs 1,500 monthly, the VBA has promised to raise that amount to Rs 3,500 per month in its manifesto. Addressing the media for the first time after undergoing angioplasty, VBA chief Prakash Ambedkar , who released his party's manifesto, said VBA would ensure that the reservation provided as per the Constitution would be safeguarded by his party, and it would be one of the most important points in the manifesto.
Ambedkar also said a lot of focus had been given to the marginalised sectors and farmers in VBA's manifesto. "Several govts gave false promises to farmers, but none ensured that the farmers got a minimum support price for their produce," Ambedkar said. "If any party forms a govt with our support, we will ensure that a law is formulated to ensure MSP for the crops.
If traders are found not giving the MSP, the provision of sending such traders behind bars will be made under that law," he said..
