Prayagraj: Lawyers of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA), who have been agitating since Tuesday against the transfer of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Varma to the Allahabad High Court, suspended their strike on Saturday till the report of an inquiry against the judge comes. Though the lawyers decided to resume work on Tuesday (April 1) they will boycott the oath-taking ceremony of Justice Yashwant Varma . In a press release, the bar association said their agitation will stand suspended till the report of inquiry instituted against Justice Varma is announced.

In a meeting of HCBA, which was presided over by its president Anil Tiwari and conducted by secretary Vikrant Pandey, it was decided to hold a national level press conference on April 26, where the bar association will announce its future course of action. Justice Varma is facing an in-house inquiry by a three-judge panel constituted by the chief justice of India over the allegations regarding the discovery of unaccounted cash at his official premises. His transfer was notified by the law ministry on Friday, days after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his repatriation to the Allahabad HC.

The Allahabad high court is the parent high court of Justice Varma, from where he took oath as judge in 2014 and was transferred to Delhi high court in 2021. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Navratri Wishes , Eid Messages and quotes !.
