Vadodara: An offence was registered at Akota police station regarding the hoax call about a bomb being planted at the district collectorate campus in the city. The bomb squad and sniffer dogs of the city police conducted extensive checks on the campus on Friday evening in the wake of the threat but found nothing. The complaint was filed late on Friday night by an official of the district collectorate, Kanti Bhoi.

It states that the threat was received via email on Friday, and the email stated that an RDX-based IED had been planted in the vicinity of the office as a diversionary tactic. The email added that the detonation of the device was imminent and that collector ‘Shri Shah' should be saved. It also mentioned that all people should be evacuated from the office.

The email was sent from an email ID bearing the name Sindhuja Srinivasan. Interestingly, the email mentioned the collector's name as ‘Shri Shah', though Bijal Shah was transferred from Vadodara recently. Police have started investigation into the matter.
