The new Carrie has reportedly been found! Horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan is working on a new Carrie TV series for Amazon, and the actress to portray the leading character has been found. According to Variety , young actress Summer H Howell is currently in final negotiations to play the titular role. Keep reading to find out more.

The upcoming new series was first announced to be in the works back in October 2024, with a writers room starting for a quick turnaround. An official pickup has not yet been announced, but is expected in the near future. The show’s logline says it’s a “bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White ( Howell ), who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother.
After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.” This would mark the fourth time the Stephen King novel would be adapted for the screen, following the original 1976 movie, starring Sissy Spacek , and the most recent iteration in 2013, starring Chloe Grace Moretz . Summer H Howell is no stranger to the horror genre, having recently starred in projects Spirit in the Blood and Netflix’s Time Cut .
Her other credits include Curse of Chucky , Cult of Chucky , Channel Zero , Clouds , Hunter Hunter , Harland Manor and Crashing Through The Snow .
