On Saturday, Caroline Merryman, owner and operator of Caroline’s Cookies, announced that the long-awaited second location will be in Bocage Village at 7575 Jefferson Highway. “You can expect our famous thick and gooey cookies that we always serve,” she said. “But we’ll also be offering merch, edible cookie dough bites, cookie cakes and cookie cake slices for the first time.

” The new location will be bigger with cozy indoor and outdoor seating. The Perkins Rowe location only has a bar top area. Merryman hopes that they’ll be able to host birthday parties or small celebrations on the weekends.

They expect to open in November. Owner Caroline Merryman is pictured Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Caroline's Cookies in Lafayette, La. Merryman, who started the business by baking cookies for her friends and putting them in their mailboxes during COVID, already has two Caroline’s Cookies, one in Lafayette ( still closed for renovation ) and the other at 110 Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge, which opened in 2021.

Caroline’s Cookies creates two flavors every month, so the offerings could be different each time customers visit. If you can’t wait until November for your cookie fix, Merryman said her recommendation for September is the chocolate cheesecake cookie. She said she hopes her cookies will be a small part of people’s day and a “go-to for cookies to celebrate big or little things in life.

” While Caroline’s Cookies is expanding, Merryman doesn’t have aspirations to be on every corner. She said she prefers “the small business feel,” but she’s grateful to Baton Rouge for supporting her expansion from Lafayette. “I feel a very big, warm welcome from the Baton Rouge community,” she said.

“I was pretty nervous coming into such a big city from Lafayette, but y’all have been nothing but nice, and it’s been great living here and getting used to the area, so thank you to our customers for making this happen.”.
