[They’re] close to home, [a] 45-minute flight.
And in the ACC, they play Duke, [North] Carolina, they play all the good schools.” Syracuse’s official men’s basketball page on X also quickly reacted to the news of Kiyan’s decision with a welcome post. Welcome to the #CuseFamily , @kiyananthony ! pic.
twitter.com/0zCMTiQSpc — Syracuse Men’s Basketball (@Cuse_MBB) November 15, 2024 The 17-year-old Kiyan is a shooting guard and a consensus four-star recruit. Per 247Sports , he is rated as the No.
1 recruit from the state of New York for the class of 2025 and averaged 19.6 points per game on Nike EYBL circuit this past spring. The son of the 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo and ex-wife La La, Kiyan named six finalists for his college commitment over the summer before whittling that down to just two earlier this month .
In the end, however, Kiyan has decided to commit to Syracuse and play for head coach Adrian Autry, who succeeded Jim Boeheim in 2023. The Orange seemed like the front-runner all along for Kiyan. After all, Carmelo was a legend for Syracuse, helping lead them to the 2003 NCAA title (their only one to date) as the Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
Now some two decades later, there will once again be an Anthony suiting up for the Orange. This article first appeared on Larry Brown Sports and was syndicated with permission..
