Times News Network Ludhiana: A 31-year-old man snatched a Mahindra Scorpio SUV after threatening its driver with a sharp-edged weapon on the road leading from Khanpur village to Paddi village at around 8.30pm on Friday. However, he was caught by the police within hours.
Police had organised an intensive checking drive covering all main roads and major chowks on Friday night. In the course of the drive, police recovered the SUV from near Shankar village and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Manjot Singh alias Gaggi, 31, of Khanpur village. The accused already has at least four FIRs for illicit liquor smuggling registered against him.
In this case, Dehlon police lodged an FIR against him under section 304 (2) (punishment for snatching) and 317 (2) (possessing stolen property) of BNS on the complaint of Manpreet Singh, a resident of Katari village of Payal tehsil.
