Cardinal Tagle to celebrate Mass on Guam culminating Year of the Eucharistic Revival

Jimenez to preside and be the homilist at a 3 p.m. Mass culminating the e archdiocese’s Year of the Eucharistic Revival at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica in Hagåtña.



Jimenez first shared the exciting news to members of the Curia, the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission and his clergy from Rome where he is participating in the Synod of Bishops with Pope Francis, the archdiocese said. Cardinal Tagle will celebrate the Mass during a stop-over on the island. He is scheduled to arrive early in the day on Nov.

27 and will leave the same day. Cardinal Tagle serves in the Vatican as the Pro Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization. Pope Francis appointed him the 32nd Archbishop of Manila on Oct.

13, 2011, a position which he held until 2020. The archdiocese commenced the “Year of the Eucharistic Revival” with Mass on the First Sunday of Advent last Dec. 3, 2023, in the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica.

As the apostolic administrator of the archdiocese then, Father Romeo D. Convocar proclaimed that the Year of the Eucharist would focus on restoring understanding and devotion to the great mystery in our archdiocese by helping everyone to renew their worship, love, and devotion of the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, the archdiocese said. Members of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission have met to begin planning for Tagle's visit and the Mass culminating the Year of the Eucharistic Revival and will share updates accordingly.
