POLICE were called to a National Trust site in Worcestershire after sunny weather led to an influx of visitors and abuse towards staff. Sunny weather on Sunday (March 2) led to Croom Court's car park reaching capacity and visitors being forced to park illegally. Police were called to the National Trust site to deal with illegal parking and also to deal with reports of staff being verbally abused.
National Trust has acknowledged that the car park at Croome Court 'reached capacity' and has thanked both visitors who listened to staff and the police officers who visited the site. A National Trust spokesperson said: "The beautiful weather meant that the car park at Croome reached capacity early in the day, and whilst most visitors were understanding and listened to staff who were managing the situation, there were a few who chose to park illegally. "This is not fair on residents and can cause issues with emergency vehicles.
We’d appeal to all visitors to be understanding and to be considerate of others. "We’d like to thank the PCSO’s who attended Croome yesterday and assisted our staff." A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Yesterday (March 2) PCSO Ashley and PCSO Stirling were called to National Trust Croome Park after reports of illegal parking at the entrance to the estate. "Whilst the vast majority of visitors were polite and understanding that the park was experiencing a high number of visitors on a sunny day there were also reports of abuse to the staff at the park who were helping visitors to park their vehicles within the grounds. "Inconsiderate or illegal parking can put pedestrians and other road users in danger.
It can also create an obstruction for emergency vehicles. "Abusing staff is also unacceptable and could lead to people being refused entry to the park.".
