Caoimhin Agyarko came through a tough test on Saturday night as he moved to 17-0 as a professional. The 28-year-old defeated Ryan Kelly by majority decision on the Dalton Smith v Mathieu Germain card in Sheffield to claim the WBA Continental Super Welterweight title. Agyarko took the fight on just ten days' notice, with the bout coming less than a month after the Belfast man beat Harley Collison on points at York Hall in what was his first bout since last August.

'Black Thunder' showed his quality throughout, but suffered a bad cut to his left eye during the ten round contest which was scored 95-95, 97-94, 96-94 by the three judges at ringside. Agyarko said in his corner during the fight that the cut was caused by an elbow. Posting images of his injuries on social media after the bout, Agyarko wrote: "Elephant man.

"NEVER EVER count me out they don’t know what I’ve had to go through to get here! "See you in September Belfast." Agyarko stepped in on short notice to take the fight after Ishmael Davis was forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Kelly due to injury. He now looks set to fight on the Paddy Donovan v Lewis Crocker rematch card, which appears to be taking place in Belfast in September.

Meanwhile, Smith recorded a unanimous decision win over Germain in Saturday's main event, dropping the Canadian three times during the 12 round bout, with the scorecards reading 117-107, 119-105 and 119-105 in the hometown fighter's favour.
