Canva , a popular designing platform, has picked Kelly Steckelberg , former Zoom Video Communications finance head, to be its chief financial officer, according to a report by CNBC. Steckelberg played a key role in taking Zoom public in 2019 and guided the video-chat company through its Covid-19 pandemic surge. Steckelberg previously held financial positions at Cisco and was CEO of an online dating company Zoosk before joining Zoom in 2017.
She is based in Austin, Texas, while Canva has its headquarters in Sydney, Australia. She announced her exit from Zoom in August. Last month, former Microsoft executive Michelle Chang replaced Steckelberg as Zoom’s financial boss.
“Kelly’s impressive track record as a strong leader and strategic thinker, combined with her proven expertise in scaling enterprise companies, make her the perfect addition to our leadership bench,” Canva said in a statement to CNBC. The high-valued creative design software startup, which competes with tech behemoths like Adobe, was recently valued at $32 billion, up from $26 billion in a fundraising round earlier this year but significantly lower than its peak valuation of $40 billion in 2021.
