The second half of the 2024-25 college football season has put real pressure on a few programs around the country to make changes in their coaching staff. Coaches have been shouldering most of the blame as teams begin to separate themselves into two groups: programs competing for a conference title and others shifting toward a rebuilding stage. One of the many coaches who has been feeling the heat is Auburn Tigers' Hugh Freeze.
In Week 10, after the Tigers lost 17-7 to the Vanderbilt Commodores at Jordan-Hare Stadium, some fans took to social media to call out Freeze. The loss to the Commodores was sparked by self-inflicted wounds for Auburn. They had tremendous trouble on the offensive end, converting just 2-of-13 third-down attempts and giving up a costly fumble that helped Vanderbilt's case in the victory.

"Can we go ahead and pull the bandaid and fire Hugh Freeze? The buyout won’t be an issue since we constantly fire coaches," said one fan . "Once again, FIRE HUGH FREEZE," said another fan . "Can the Freeze experiment end already?!" mentioned one fan .
"Time for another buyout?" commented one fan . "When Auburn fires Hugh Freeze, they should hire Diego Pavia to hand deliver the letter," said one fan . "Auburn will fire freeze and hire Lea," said another fan .
John Reed-Imagn Images With the loss to Vanderbilt, the Tigers moved to 3-6 on the season and 1-5 in the SEC. Auburn has lost five of its last six games, dating back to Sept. 21.
While they've struggled this season, it's been the same story for the last two years after the start of Freeze's tenure with the Tigers. Freeze's first year with the program was 2023, and the Tigers ended that year with a 6-7 record. Auburn hasn't had a double-digit win season since 2017, so desperation has surrounded the program for years.
Freeze was signed to the SEC program after being the headman at Liberty from 2019 to 2022. Before his time with the Flames, he was the head coach for the Ole Miss Rebels from 2012 to 2016. The second-year head coach has shown the ability to recruit at a high level but hasn't been able to translate a winning product to the field.
