People living in a large city suburb are calling for more dog bins to be installed after getting annoyed at having to constantly avoid piles of dog mess. People living in Thorpe St Andrew are concerned that an increase in dog poo not being picked up is ruining the area. It has led to councillors pulling together to answer neighbour's worries and install more bins to fowling hotspots.
Tania Williams said it is grim seeing dog poo left on the pavement (Image: Tania Williams) Areas suggested by people include Gordon Avenue, Spinney Road, Yarmouth Road near School Lane, the top of Dussindale Drive and near Fairfax Drive. Tania Williams, who has lived in Yarmouth Road for the last decade, said: "I walk my son to school every day and there are no red dog bins. "It means that there's either dog poo on the pavement, or it's overflowing the little green bins, which is frankly disgusting.
"I sometimes get the bus and the bin is surrounded by faeces - it's grim. "I saw five different piles of mess along the road the other day and it's really starting to impact the overall look of, what is generally, a nice area. " Gordon Saye lives in Acacia Road and is hoping for more bins there, adding: "I walk my dog Lucy around the area and more dog bins would be very useful to help keep paths and verges clean. "Most people I see are responsible owners and do clear up or take it home to their own bins. "Thorpe has a good number of dog bins, about 30, but there's always scope to add more to target areas of concern - about five more currently/.
"Myself, Jonathan Emsell and Peter Berry, will discuss this with the town council and using our councillor grants hopefully have these installed as soon as possible."
