Turn off the taps this summer and use the big faucet in the sky!

The City of Calgary and the non-profit organization Green Calgary have joined forces to help residents save money and protect the environment this growing season with a new rebate offer. Calgary residents can get $50 off their purchase of a rain barrel at Green Calgary and other local vendors. This is a limited rebate offer, though, as it will only be available for 3,000 rain barrels.

Anyone who purchases a rain barrel will have to initially pay the full price and then apply for the rebate online with their receipt. DON'T MISS: Get to know the hidden gems across Canada With the pre-rebate price of a rain barrel being $125, the $50 rebate lowers the net cost to $75—a 40 percent reduction in cost! Calgary typically receives around 400 mm of rain throughout the spring, summer, and early fall—enough to fill these 208-litre barrels 20 times during the season. Collecting rainwater for your garden is cost-free, additive-free, and uses no electricity.
