Caitlin Clark is determined to make sure that her trailblazing rookie season was just the start. The Indiana Fever superstar led a struggling franchise into the playoffs to live up to her billing as the No.1 pick.

She scored the most points ever by a rookie in Game 2 of a postseason series with 25 but could not stop the Connecticut Sun from progressing. Clark snubbed the lucrative Unrivaled league in order to focus on her game over the offseason as she prepares to link up with new coach Stephanie White. The incoming boss is adamant that her only focus is winning multiple titles with the most high-profile player in women's basketball on her team.

White has already secured one huge offseason move that got the seal of approval from her star player. The Fever are bringing back veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell after signing her to a core player designation - a one-year deal on the maximum base salary. Mitchell is Indiana's all-time No.

2 scorer and will be entering her eighth season with the franchise. Clark tagged Mitchell in her Instagram stories and wrote 'Duh' along with a heart emoji. "We locked in, 22," replied her 29-year-old teammate.

"I met one of the greatest people in the world, Caitlin Clark , who just ran the basketball world," Mitchell said after the announcement. "So I think together, we hope to make you guys proud. "We hope to make you guys feel like you're a part of our success and our journey.

I'm here, let's do this.” After Clark was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month in August, she claimed Mitchell deserved it more. "I felt like [Kelsey] probably should have gotten a little love.

I honestly thought she probably should have been Player of the Month," she said. "So I feel very fortunate to play with her. Honestly, I'm not even trying to be corny, I really think she deserved it.

" Mitchell was drafted in 2018 and has led the Fever in scoring in all but two seasons - she was just two points behind Clark's team-high tally of 769 in 2024 as both averaged 19.2 per game. With their backcourt duo locked in, the Fever will begin to ramp up preparations for the 2025 season.

Clark will be keen for a fast start as Indiana opens against her old foe Angel Reese 's Chicago Sky on May 17. The WNBA Rookie of the Year has rejected the chance to participate in the NBA's All-Star weekend. Last year, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu went head-to-head with Steph Curry.

But Sports Business Journal has claimed that the 23-year-old rejected the opportunity. " Caitlin Clark has told the NBA she is disinclined to participate in an All-Star Game three-point contest next month that could include Steph Curry , Klay Thompson and Sabrina Ionescu," SBJ stated . The report claimed that the set-up was not to Clark's liking and that she was 'not interested' in a 3-point shooting contest that features moving around the circle to stations and picking balls off a rack.

Clark likes to practice catch-and-shoot 3-pointers and NBA chiefs are believed to be in talks to try and change her mind. It is clearly working out as she is the fastest player to reach 100 three-pointers in WNBA history. "There’s a scenario where Steph Curry could participate in 3-point shootout during WNBA All-Star weekend next summer," SBJ claimed.
