Nigeria duo of Ademola Lookman and Chiamaka Nnadozie are both in the final shortlists of the CAF Awards men and women’s player of the year categories. CAF once again unveiled the final nominees for the prestigious award on Thursday night. While Lookman will be looking to succeed his international teammate Victor Osimhen, who won the award last year; Nnadozie will be seeking to clinch the women’s top prize last won by Asisat Oshoala.
Lookman scored three goals and three assists at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, and the 27-year-old Atalanta star also scored a historic hat-trick in the final of the UEFA Europa League last season. Nnadozie, who impressed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, is also in contention for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award which she won in the inaugural award last year.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian men’s and women’s teams, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons are also in the final shortlists for the team awards.
