The pro wrestling rumor mill certainly isn't taking a break for the holidays, not with WWE throwing out all sorts of wild events and scenarios. Events, meaning the upcoming big switch to Netflix for Raw in early January, with the Royal Rumble hanging in the background not all that long after that landmark switch. Scenarios, meaning all the obvious groundwork being laid for major upcoming feuds, Superstars getting big runs and possible WrestleMania plans.
Hence, names like CM Punk, Drew McIntyre and others sitting prominent in the rumblings. To help fans during this busy holiday season keep pace, here's a look at the most notable rumors and whether they should buy or sell on each. The Rumor Is a former AEW star heading to WWE? According to PW Insider (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), the teaser WWE showed this week on Raw was for Penta.
Reaction It's easy enough to put this one together, with the zero in the teaser repping Penta's "zero fear" he's become well-known for over the years. While Ray Fenix's departure from AEW has been much noiser, it's safe to presume that WWE would've had a major interest in Pentagón Jr., too.
Buy or Sell? Easy buy. Adding Pentagón Jr., were he ever available, makes all the sense in the world for WWE.
He's a stunning international talent who would do well in the WWE spotlight, whether he goes on a singles run or other. The Rumor Is another title headed for the Bloodline's orbit? According to WrestleVotes , WWE could introduce the idea of a "Tribal Chief Championship" for the Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa feud.
Reaction It's so silly and carny enough that WWE might just float this idea. With the main event scene dominated by other Superstars right now and not wanting to mess those up, surely WWE has considered ways to make the stakes even higher around Bloodline stories. Buy or Sell? Hard sell.
WWE already has the Ula Fala in this role. We just saw CM Punk and Drew McIntyre blood feud over a bracelet . That should be more than enough—and it's bad enough that Rock is already carrying around a non-WWE title when he shows up.
The Rumor Speaking of the main event scene, according to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman ), WWE wants CM Punk in a world title match at WrestleMania right away. Reaction No kidding, right? This doesn't necessarily have to mean that Punk main events. We've seen world title matches open, too.
With his age, injury history and the droves of possible feuds, getting Punk in the most prominent spot possible makes loads of sense. Buy or Sell? Easiest buy of the week. The how is more interesting.
Does he win the Royal Rumble? Does he take Gunther's title before 'Mania even arrives? WWE leaving so many threads available to pull on simply makes for captivating television and this is the best example. The Rumor Another week, another bit of buzz around Charlotte Flair. According to PWInsider.
com (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Flair is very close to a return to the ring in WWE. Reaction Clearly, this has been a thing on the rumor mill for a while now. Flair has consistently appeared in social media buzz about a return, especially more recently.
It didn't happen at Saturday Night's Main Event, but there are plenty of big upcoming landmarks to eyeball for the big return, too. Buy or Sell? Sell, at least for the "on the cusp" portion of the rumor mill. The early-January debut of Raw on Netflix might be too soon.
That show is going to be stuffed to a wild degree with items of note, so her return might not get the gravitas it deserves. Now a surprise Royal Rumble spot in February, though..
. The Rumor Is Drew McIntyre headed for a massive push? According to WrestleVotes Radio (h/t Ortman) , WWE has major plans for him in 2025. Reaction It feels like McIntyre can't go much higher as-is.
He was the reigning top champion who carried the company through the pandemic era after bullying Brock Lesnar. And he's just now fresh off a long, historic feud with CM Punk. Buy or Sell? Despite all that, it's an easy buy.
Maybe that means McIntyre gets another top title run for an extended amount of time. He certainly deserves it, given the background of his return to the company and headlining success so far. The way he's stepped into a heel role and elevated things has been nothing short of impressive.
